It’s been a fantastic ride, but tonight we are at the finale of “The Night Shift” season 3 and there are so many cliffhangers from last week that we don’t even know where to begin. Is Paul’s dad going to save the hospital? Who really took the missing drugs? Is this really the end of Paul and Shannon? And the biggest question we’ve been sitting on all week is what was Jordan going to say to Scott right before the fire hit? This show has never been known to shy away from tough stories and big cliffhangers and we expect that the end of season 3 is going to be no exception. CarterMatt.com - ‘The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 11 review: Did Brianna get her lung transplant?
The last episode of “The Night Shift” kicked us right in the heart – sometimes in a bad way like watching Topher learn that he’s getting fired when the hospital is taken over and sometimes in an amazing way like seeing Drew ask Brianna if he can adopt her. That’s what we love about this show, just one episode can make us feel so many things.

CarterMatt.com - ‘The Night Shift’ exclusive: Robert Bailey Jr. on Paul and Shannon, upcoming episodes, season 4 hopes
Wednesday night is proving itself to be a big one for “The Night Shift” on NBC, and for so many reasons. Not only are you going to get a chance to watch two new episodes, but they will be particularly emotional ones for many reasons as you see some characters balance difficult challenges both out in the field and back in the hospital.
So who better to break things down than someone who was a part of the whole experience? We chatted earlier this week with Robert Bailey Jr. about his role as Paul, what is coming in these episodes and beyond, and how his character will be dealing with the recent developments with Shannon. In the end, we also talk a little bit about the show’s season 4 chances.

CarterMatt.com - ‘The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 10 preview: Prepare for another double-episode block!
“The Night Shift” has fallen victim to some odd scheduling already this season, thanks to everything from politics to the upcoming Summer Olympics. We’re going to see some of that rear its head once again next week, but in a different way than expected.

CarterMatt.com - ‘The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 9 review: Did Paul, Shannon decide to give romance a chance?
On the last episode of “The Night Shift” we saw Shannon and Paul kiss (and then hook up in the back of his car in the hospital parking lot), so what happens for these two now? For us, this is a relationship that we are really rooting for to be more then just a one time thing. It feels like Shannon needs someone a little straight laced like Paul to help give her stability, where she is someone that can help Paul open up to new things and experiences. Let’s see if their hook up is going to last past one episode...

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 9 preview: Air date, details on ‘Unexpected’
The third season of “The Night Shift” has been airing in pretty rapid-fire fashion through most of the summer, but for next week, it appears that the show is taking a little break. What’s the reasoning for that? It’s certainly a good question, and the answer is rather simple: Politics. Thanks to the Republican National Convention, we’re taking a little bit of time off.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 8 review: Can Jordan and Jessica get along?
We lost Syd and Riley on the last episode of “The Night Shift”, but we are hopeful that we will see them again at some point this season. Also, are Paul and Shannon going to be the next big couple? They have been flirting in a school yard kind of way and now Paul has been clued in to her feelings. Will he do something about it? Let’s see what’s in store for us tonight.
Scott is still not talking to Jordan even after her apology to him and while working together Scott seems to be a little short with her. Luckily the case they are working on together is helping to get them on the same page about at least one thing – their patients best interests. Is this going to be enough to help bridge the gap? After everything that happened tonight, it helped Scott realize that he’s been harboring some hurt feelings about Jordan from years back. He apologizes to Jordan and asks for a fresh start, which she is happy to give.

CarterMatt.com - Ratings: ‘The Night Shift’ season 3 lifted by ‘America’s Got Talent’ repeat; ‘Big Brother 18’ steady
Wednesday night’s ratings really just prove to us one thing above all else: “America’s Got Talent,” even when it is a repeat of sorts, manages to still be a pretty significant ratings booster.
Last night’s episode of “The Night Shift” managed to rise up all the way to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, lifted in part because of the “America’s Got Talent” special (1.7) that aired for two hours before it. This shows first and foremost that these two shows are complimentary, and that also bodes extremely well for what could be coming next week. The Judge Cuts portion of the talent competition is beginning, and this will offer up an opportunity for even more viewers to flock to the medical drama. Even if they’re just forgetting to change the channel, anything to help further ensure that “The Night Shift” gets another season is something that we’ll subscribe to.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 7 review: Syd’s decision; Jordan, Scott move forward
With TC and Jessica’s romance heating up and Jordan and Sam’s fizzling out it’s going to be interesting to see how things shake out on tonight’s episode of “The Night Shift”. We want to see TC and Jordan get back together, but after what they went through together it has to feel like it’s been earned.
Unfortunately for the two of them, there were so many other things happening on Wednesday night’s new episode that it certainly did not look as though anyone was going to have peace. After an accident involving fireworks turned into a mass scene, many of the doctors had to scramble to be heroes there. Unfortunately, when a second explosion struck, Topher found himself injured … but refused to do anything about it for as long as he could. Suffice it to say that not everyone was particularly receptive to some of what he was doing here, refusing treatment and try to defy orders.

CarterMatt.com - 'The Night Shift' season 3, episode 8 preview: Will Topher's mother be okay?
Tonight, “The Night Shift” gave us an episode that proved (of course) to be intense, and to go along with that, it revolved around a dangerous situation that put many of our main characters at the center of the action.
So where do we go moving into the next episode? Well, let’s just say that this one is going to hit close to hope for some very different reasons. Specifically, for the Topher character we are going to see next week him deal with the emotional ramifications of his mother hitting the ER with an ailment that may cause her to lose her life. He’ll have to rely on others, and given the situation, we imagine that this is not going to be particularly easy.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3 spoilers: A nurses’ strike and further complications
Anytime you work at a hospital, you are constantly in a situation where you need all hands on deck at a moment’s notice. With that, it can cause so many more problems for you when not everything goes according to plan. This is something that will become very clear on the upcoming July 27 episode of “The Night Shift” entitled “Unexpected,” as a strike involving some of the nurses could leave the doctors short on help in a very terrible time.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 6 review: How will Jordan react to TC, Jessica romance?
On the last episode of “The Night Shift” we saw the start of a few new romances like Scott and Annie and TC and Jessica, but are any of these romances going to turn into something deeper or will they quickly flame out? Many fans want to see Jordan and TC back together again (we are some of those fans), so we suspect these romances they are dabbling in right now won’t last… or at least that’s what we are hoping.
Jordan may not have wanted to get too deeply involved with Sam by going to the B&B with him on the last episode, but things are going quite well in the bedroom for the two of them. Don’t feel too badly for TC though, because he’s sleeping with Jessica and she’s got a little “50 Shades of Grey” nonsense going on.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3, episode 5 review: Are Scott and Annie headed towards romance?
While most episodes of “The Night Shift” are fairly intense, last week’s episode focusing on the “Black Lives Matter” movement was the most intense episode of the season so far. Tonight though we have a two hour event that’s going to focus heavily on TC and Jordan – will TC fight for Jordan or will her new romance with Sam turn into something deeper?

Gossip And Gab - The Night Shift 2016 Recap: Episode 4 – Three-Two-One
On tonight’s episode of The Night Shift season 3, protests and riots over a looming jury decision ends up impacting The Night Shift when the man at the center of the case, ends up in their ED. TC makes a decision that causes his motives to be questioned.
Tonight’s episode of The Night Shift season 3 started off with a look at a protest going on outside a local courthouse where things are getting a little violent. TC is brought in to make sure that if anyone gets hurt, someone is there to treat them. Moments later, there is an officer involved shooting nearby and both the officer and the perp are in critical condition. The problem is, they can’t get them out of there because of the group of protesters blocking the streets. TC asks if they can get some more doctor out to them and they call on Paul and Scott.

World of Entertainment - One Night with the cast of “The Night Shift” Part One
Article posted on June 16th
With many medical dramas on television today (Grey’s Anatomy on ABC, Chicago Fire on NBC, Code Black on CBS), it is a breathe of fresh air when a show like The Night Shift comes along. The series deals with cases of the week, but also sheds light on military personnel and how they’ve adjusted post war…or currently in war.
Currently in its third season and back to summers after a midseason stint for season two, the third season finds many of the core characters on a different path than before. Below are the questions I asked to the panel, later today I’ll have questions from my co-interviewer.

Ecumenical - The Night Shift' season 3 episode 4 spoilers: Scott and Paul caught in the middle of a violent protest; Topher tries to maintain control of the ER
"The Night Shift" has had some pretty far-out storylines, but season 3 has so far been keeping it real, with storylines that hit close to home, and episode 4 is no exception.
It would seem that the show will finally shed light on the protests and violence that formed a big part of the season's official trailer. Episode 4 will see the doctors of "The Night Shift" at ground zero as the city erupts in violence over a jury verdict. Things become even more complicated when the suspect of racially motivated shooting that caused the unrest was brought to the ER for treatment, causing dissent even among close friends like Kenny (JR Lemon) and Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.). While Topher (Ken Leung) tries to keep the chaos in the ER at bay, TC's (Eoin Macken) choice on which of their two patients to bring in raises questions from Paul and Scott (Scott Wolf).

CarterMatt.com - "The Night Shift” season 3, episode 3 review: Topher stands up to his mom, Lindsey Morgan shines
Is Jordan really ready to jump back into the dating pool with firefighter Sam? It sure seemed like it on the last episode of “The Night Shift” when we saw Shannon invite him to come and sit with her and Jordan for breakfast. Of course we want to see her end up back with TC at some point, but not until there is a better understanding of each other’s needs, so for now it would be great to see Jordan back out there after so many losses in her life.

CarterMatt.com - ‘The Night Shift’ season 2, episode 4 preview: A powerful story in ‘Three-Two-One’tchy title...
The second season of “The Night Shift” has certainly given us quite a few surprises over the course of the series’ run, but we don’t think that next week’s installment “Three-Two-One” is really about the element of surprise at all. Instead, it looks as though this is going to be an emotional hour that brings to light headlines that are still reverberating across the country. We’re talking specifically about racial tension, police brutality, and the role of both protests and the media. The promo below definitely hints at a story people will be talking about for some time.

"The Night Shift" premiered its third season earlier this month, and tomorrow's episode will see Drew's return after being deployed in Afghanistan for a while.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3 spoilers: First look at two-hour event!
“The Night Shift” apparently is going to have its hands full in a rather big way a little bit later this season, as we’re going to have a chance to see two separate episodes play out in a big way on the very same night: Wednesday, June 29. Why do this? We imagine that some of it has to do with a need on NBC’s part in order to get some new episodes out there before we roll around to the Summer Olympics, when much of the network’s programming will have to go dark. This period is going to make the schedule certainly a little bit wonky, but we’ll figure it out when we get there in August.

CarterMatt.com - The Night Shift’ season 3 spoilers: A jury verdict leads to chaos
There are several different indicators of what we’d call present-day America, and protests are one of them. Specifically, we’re talking about protests of racially-charged situations that have occurred involving shootings and the enforcement of the law. While we cannot say precisely how these indicators are going to find their way into the fabric of NBC’s “The Night Shift,” we can nonetheless tell you that they will be a focus to a certain degree of the upcoming June 22 episode entitled “Three-Two-One.”
